Seattle, Washington

This week I got some amazing news. My boyfriend told me that for our anniversary in February we will be going to Seattle!

Last year we celebrated it in Portland, Oregon and it was such a unforgettable vacation. When we were there we heard about Seattle and how beautiful it is over there. My boyfriend was completely sold on the idea when he heard about a fish market that tosses fish inside.

So now all I’m doing is counting down the days until it is time to take off. I fell in love with researching and planning out our days that I’m beyond excited that I get to do it all over again. If any of you are from Seattle or have ever been there I would love some recommendations on where you think we should go visit? I know that we are planning on eating the majority of our time there because after looking at yelp my taste buds can hardly wait.

Hope you all have a great Thursday. Just remember one more day until a new year arrives!

Love,

Erika

Monday Motivation

This Saturday was my little sister’s birthday.

She finally turned 21 this year, so we of course went to Vegas. My aunt picked me up after work and we headed straight to my mom’s house. Once we got there we picked them up and made our way to Las Vegas.

It was a girls getaway and it was very refreshing to spend time with my family but also to be apart of a moment that my sister will remember forever. She of course was on a lucky streak when she turned her $5 into $25 dollars. We even went to Excalibur to watch the Tournament of Kings, which is a fun family dinner show.

The weekend couldn’t have been any better. Everyday I feel so grateful that I have an amazing family that loves me unconditionally. There is no greater feeling then spending time with the people that love you.

So this week’s quote is inspired .

my mother is still young and full of life, despite her age, and still looks young as well.. but this is still such a rarely realized aspect of reality...: Photo Credit: Lifehack

Hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend.

Goodbye to October

You know the saying that things never go as planned?

Well this Halloween that came true. We were suppose to go to Halloween party but I didn’t find out that it was on Friday till I came home after work. Here I thought that I still had one day to make our costumes but it was really three hours.

So as I looked at my bf with stress flowing through my eyes we said f*** it lets not go.

Usually I want to wear a costume or do something creative but I figured my Selena costume was enough for me this year. Since we didn’t go I returned all our supplies and it felt good to get my money back. We spent probably like around 60 dollars on all the material and figured that we should’ve bought the real ones. So as we laughed it off we planned out our weekend.

On Saturday we went to the Luxe Buffet that is located in the Westminster mall. When you walk in you get overwhelmed with the different aroma’s that you have no clue where to start. They had sushi, crab legs, variety of soups, Brazilian BBQ, Chinese food, ice cream bar, mini donuts, macaroons and so much more. Once we were done we had to walk around the mall because we were seconds from falling into a food coma.

As for Sunday my bf took me to his favorite taco place in Santa Monica. Ever since he started his new job he has been raving about this restaurant. So this weekend we had some time to go and check it out. I completely fell in LOVE with those tacos!!! The way that they marinate the Asada is foodgasm worthy. I was really impressed when I saw the quality of meat…no fatty parts. One thing I always check when going to any Mexican restaurant is their rice and beans. If they can’t master an easy side dish then that’s usually a sign that the food won’t be good.

Later we met up with one of my bf friends and we headed to a haunted house. The place we went to was held by a martial arts school. Their theme was Revenge of the Ninja; Vengeance is their Legacy. We were put in a group with a family of three. As we began walking I started to get scared, lucky there was a boy in front of me. He would start freaking out when we would turn a corner and apart of me was thinking the same thing he was. Surely my bf took over and pushed us ahead of them. He mostly did that because he wanted the people to focus on scaring me instead of the little boy. After the whole thing was over I thought that it was a great experience especially because it was free.

I had such a great weekend that I’m sad that October is already over. Today I take down all my decorations and get mentally ready for Christmas because we both know it will be here in a blink of an eye.

Happy Birthday to Me!

ModernMeowSept

Today is not only my birthday but my friend Brittany too!!!

I can’t believe that today I turn twenty three years old. Yesterday my birthday Twin surprised me with a ticket to see a taping of The Voice. Amazingly I got to see Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine! They were so sweet and just as beautiful as I imagined. Alicia Keys was so loving when fans from the audience would yell out that they loved her she would just give the sweetest smile and mouthed I love you too.

We waited for almost three hours to get in and seat but it was an experience I will never forget. It was a perfect way to start off our birthday week.

I’m pretty excited to see what the week brings, I’m hoping that the universe sends me some luck.

A Day at Disneyland

What do you do when you are feeling stressed and life is just getting you down.

Well what I do is go to the happiest place on earth. I love going to Disneyland and enjoying all the magic behind the park. It honestly feels like once you entered the park all your problems just melt away.

img_5637

I got the chance to go with my mom and sister. They are the best Disney crew around! What is shocking is that we went on Friday and we were able to get on eleven rides.

img_5636

I even got to see Ariel as I was walking into the park. She was looked lovely that I had to take a quick picture of her with a little girl.

If you love to laugh at cheesy jokes and puns then the Jungle Cruise is perfect for you. We got on that as our first ride because the line was only 10 minutes long. But it was actually quicker than that.

When you go into Frontier Land you can see all the Mexican inspired Day of the Dead décor. I absolutely love it! This time when we visited this section we noticed that they were doing FREE face painting. So of course I made all of us wait in line. I liked that we did something new in the park that we usually never do.

Here is the final product. Personally I liked my sister and Mom’s skull better than mine so I had to take a close up of theirs.

img_5660

My Mom loves the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and she is always my competition. This time I was pretty forced and our photo showed it all.

img_5662

Since it my favorite time of the year I always love seeing how Disney decorates their rides. One ride that gets my creative juices flowing is the Haunted Mansion. Every year they design a new gingerbread house and this one was speculator. The smell alone gets you excited for the cold fall weather that is on its way.

It was such a great way to relax and remind me what joy my family can bring me. I am extremely grateful for my Mom and sister.

626 Night Market

Today started off with a nice hot coffee.

I woke up feeling the effects of having a fun weekend. It all started Friday night after work, we decided to go to the 626 night market. It was beyond tasty!

Right when we arrived we had no idea where to start. Our minds were being blown after seeing booth after booth. I found myself saying that I had to try that after every single one.

But like most night markets you get some things that were not worth trying. There were about two things that I found that were pretty delicious. For dinner we tried this Filipino chicken and beef BBQ skewers. It was the best Filipino BBQ I have ever had. The ratio of crispness and sauce was perfect!

img_5051

For dessert I had this Thai rolled ice cream. Words can’t describe how amazing it was. Since it was rolled up, it was extremely creamy and light. Every spoonful was pure heaven! The guy who worked there highly recommended the Cookie Butter ice cream over any other creation.

So I took his advice and was extremely happy with it. The only bad thing is now I crave it. Hopefully I can find one near my apartment if not, then I’ll have to wait until September 626 night market.

Yelp Elite Event At The District

So yesterday I attend a Yelp Elite event with my boyfriend. This event was located in Beverly Hills at the restaurant called The District by Hannah An.

We got there 20 minutes early because in any Yelp event it is always worth getting there early. So we walked around the area just to pass the time. As soon as we came back there were already some people heading upstairs.

img_4674

We signed in, got our name tags and free drink tickets.  The first thing we did was go straight to the bar. The line was small so we thought lets put in our order before it becomes chaotic. We both ordered the “Hot Asian”. I was in such a great mood that I started making puns/jokes. I told my boyfriend, “You know for liking a hot Asian, I really don’t care for the Hot Asian”.

img_4673

As people started coming we picked a spot to sit down and enjoy the free food. They had servers that would come around with trays that sampled their food. We tried their Tuna Poke, Duck Confit flatbread, Hannah’s Homemade Noodles and their Spring Rolls. This was just in a bite size since it was a tasting.

img_4659

This was my favorite by far it’s the Tuna Poke. That bite size sent me to heaven! I loved how all the favors complement each other so well. I was dying to get my hands on another.

img_4661

My second favorite was the Duck Confit flatbread. I was so amazed at how much I liked duck. But the cheese , pickled onion and vinaigrette took it to another level.

img_4663-1

Next was Hannah’s Homemade Noodles. They came out nice and warm I had to take moment to properly take a photo of them. This was so simple yet so delicious at the same time. I’m not going to lie, I had some fun mixing all the ingredients together. Other than the noodles it had garlic-lime, Thai basil and panko. My boyfriend and I had two each, so that has to tell you something.

img_4669

If you are a vegan or vegetarian then this might be something you should try. Personally this wasn’t my for me. I was not use to the chef choice protein or their garlic lime vinaigrette.

img_4672

After we left the event I was able to snag a few Yelp goodies such as their lip balm and cute notepads.  The restaurant even gave us these 20 dollar off coupons. I had such  a fun night out that we stopped at our local BCH Tofu place to fill our hungry bellies.

  • Since I was at a Yelp event I’ll post the meal planning tomorrow.
