Skincare IQ Class

Image result for sephora skincare classes

This last Sunday I was able to attend a skincare class at Sephora. The whole class was about getting to know your skin type and seeing what would well for your skin issues. Since it was pouring on Sunday we were about to have one on one time with the skincare experts. Usually when there is a full class there is one girl that gets all the demos done to her. But the other two girls and I were so lucky that we got to try out all the products that they recommended for us. I felt like I was at a spa by the luxurious skincare brands we got to try out. The girls that work there were so friendly and willing to share any tips and tricks they use.

It truly was customized by our skin issues because the other two girls try out completely different things that I did. For myself I told my beauty expert Vanessa that my issues were some scaring and huge pores. She went and got some skin care products she thought would work wonders on my skin.

We first started with cleansers. They explained the importance on double cleansing because most of the time when we wash our face the dirt and makeup is still there. So the cleanser I tried out was the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Cleanser Gel. I loved that it was thick and once I began to massaged it in my pores started feeling refreshed.

Once we rinsed our faces we were given a mask to try out. The mask I got to try out was the boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment. All the beauty experts said that it has worked some miracles on people. They completely swear by this product, so I felt pretty lucky to try it. Once I washed that mask off after 15 minutes I completely understood what they meant. My face looked so luminous and bright after I wiped it off. When they experts saw my face after they were shocked and complimented me on how good my skin looked.

We quickly sprayed on some toner to make sure that when we moisturized everything would be absorbed into our skin. Ole Henriksen Nurture Me Facial Water had a wonderful fragrance that it made me feel like I was at a spa.

If that wasn’t pampering enough they introduced us to some moistures that were essential to our skincare routine. The moisturizer I used was the Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation. It seeped into my skin quickly and was very light.

Something that the expert stressed was adding a eye cream to our routine. Once you turn 24 your skin stops producing collagen which starts aging your skin. Since they knew I was young they said that I have enough time to keep grandfather time from adding any fine lines to my face. So they recommended CLINIQUE Pep-Start Eye Cream. One tip they gave me was leaving it in the fridge so when I apply it the cool feeling will soothe my under eyes.

Another thing that keeps our skin from aging is some SPF. It is extremely important because even when its overcast you can get the rays shined on you. COVER FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is so light that you forget you have it on. It was my personal favorite because it had no fragrance to it.

Finally was the last step finding a BB cream or CC cream that work for us. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ was the one I tested out. I loved the coverage and when applied with a beauty blender it gave you such a natural finish.

Once we were done all the experts kept telling me that they were slowly seeing my face brighten up after each step we took and I couldn’t agree with them more. I felt so pampered and refreshed my skin truly thanked me. When my bf saw me he noticed a complete change as well as when I went into work today. Many of my co-workers said that I had a nice glow to my face and once I told them about the class they automatically signed up for the next one. I loved the whole experience especially because it was free that I know I’ll definitely be at the next one too.

Love,

Erika

Cut for a Cause

Ulta throws a hair event every October to bring awareness to Breast cancer. This year I decided to join in and get a $10 haircut from their Salon. I knew that this was going to be a crazy event, so I arrived an hour early.

Sure enough people started arriving quickly and before you knew it there was already a long line. When the doors finally opened at 11 AM I was the first one to get their hair cut. I wanted to cut off any split ends and add more texture into my hair. The stylist was so sweet she even offered to add in a pink hair extension.

After she worked her magic my hair felt nice and healthy again. I was so blown away by how much I had to pay for my haircut. Usually I pay about 30 to 35 dollars without tip so I was over the moon when I just paid 20 just for the haircut and hair extension. Personally it was a great day to pamper myself and donate to a charity all about Woman.

Happy October everyone!

Feliz Día de la Independencia!

independencia

Today marks a significant day in my culture.

It was the day that Mexico stood together and revolted against the Spaniards.  Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla  was the father of this whole movement. He gave a famous speech known as “Grito de Dolores, or Cry of Dolores”.  It became very powerful because Hidalgo was captured and executed right after he armed his people.  When Hidalgo was killed the people finally had enough of the Spanish rule and fault back . Mexico had won the battle and got back their country. So today Mexican’s all over the world celebrate the glory of victory.  The Mexican President every year go out to the balcony and yells, “Viva México! Viva la Independencia! Vivan los héroes!”  In Mexico they have all these festivals and many make their signiature dishes. It really is a celebration worth seeing.

So today to represent my culture and roots I decided to dress up. As far as my plans I guess I will just have to wait and see what I come up with. Hope you all have a great Friday!

July Sephora Play Review

img_4798

This months Play theme was Effortless. If summer could pick beauty products it would choose everything that was in this months bag. They had so many goodies that I had no idea what I want to try out first. My mind was completely blown away when I saw the beautyblender blotterazzi. Automatically I thought this is going to be a good Play bag.

img_4820

1.NEST Citrine:

If you love NEST perfume as much as I do then you got to get this one. I fell head over heels for the perfume! It smells so lovely and light. This fragrance is the perfect blend for what I am looking for. It’s sexy, dewy, and fresh, and still shows up on my skin. Every whiff was utter bliss, I found myself sniffing my waist throughout the day.

2.beautyblender blotterazzi:

With the one beauty blotter I received, I also got a small sample of the blendercleanser in a subscription box. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I’m heading to Sephora after work today to pick up some more so I can have them at home and at work. It absorbs oil without smudging my makeup around. It also fits perfectly into nooks around my nose, where you’d usually have to smush a blotting paper and mess up your foundation. Love, love, love this thing.

3.Ouai Wave Spray:

I’m not a huge fans of the Kardashians but I am a Chrissy Teigen fan. Jen Atkin is the founder and creator of Ouai, she is a hairstylist to many A list celebrities. So when I saw her wave spray I couldn’t help but squeal. The wave spray is amazing! It smells so good and gives my frizzy/wavy/curly hair some hold and keeps the poofiness to a minimum. It also left my hair feeling manageable, not brittle like some salt sprays.

4.Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing:

Since I have oily skin, I have tried many primers that helped control it. After trying several out I always came back to this one. I discovered it when a former Ulta employee told me that this one was by far better than Porefessional by Benefit. When she said that I had to try it immediately. I can honestly say that it did work some amazing blur miracles. I love that it helps control my oil production and minimizes my pores.

5.Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer:

I ADORE this bronzer. The color is great, goes on light which is perfect for building up however deep a bronze you’re looking for. Great for my medium/olive complexion and smells like chocolate!

6.First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay:

The beginning of this summer was pure hell. I recently got my acne under control from an antibiotic that was prescribed to me. My skin became significantly clearer, to the point where I didn’t need make up. I would have the occasional breakout but when summer came my skin went crazy. I thank the heavens that I got a chance to try this out and control it. I had always heard that this brand created skin miracles. So of course when I tried it I noticed a big difference. The redness went down along with the size of them. It turned an outbreak to a controlled situation. By the next morning there were already some that disappeared.

June Sephora Play Review

Every month my play box comes I can’t help but get that fuzzy feeling.

img_4584

This month the theme was Minimalist. Which I thought was perfect for the summer. They gave you so many amazing products that I had no idea where to start.

img_4574

1. Tocca Florence: This perfume reminded me of cucumber mist. Personally that scent never mixes well with my body chemistry and causes it to smell like baby powder. I know that if I give it to my mom it will sit well with her and give her that slight mist smell.

2. Bumble and bumble Don’t Blow It: It completely tames this crazy mane of mine. Usually I can never leave the house without blow drying it and styling it. I have to do this otherwise my hair will decide for me what kind of mood it’s in. So my mind was blown that this Bumble and bumble product tames my volume  and fizz. I have used this product twice already and I’m in love! I already know that this will be a summer favorite.

3. tarte Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30: This is a perfect way to introduce sunscreen into your daily routine. I know that putting on that extra SPF can be hard to not only to remember but to actually want to do it. I always heard from friends that they never put on sunscreen because they could never get past the smell. Well the good news is that this sunscreen smells amazing. It doesn’t at all remind me of the typical sunscreen that you would dread putting on at the beach. Another plus is that doesn’t leave your skin feeling gross and greasy, which is a big deal for me since I have oily skin.

4. bareMinerals bareSkin® Sheer Sun™ Serum Bronzer: I had never used a bronzer before so I found myself reading the Sephora June Play pamphlet. They said that the best way to introduce this is just by mixing a few drops with your foundation. So as I applied it I started to get that beautiful sun kissed beach look. But be very careful on how many drops you add because a little goes a long way.

5. BECCA Backlight Priming Filter: This is another great product to mix with your foundation. Since I have oily skin my desire for luminous products I would say is very low. But this product does it so faintly that it gives you a beautiful dewy (but not oily) glow. This product doesn’t have any glitter or shimmer in it which is great, but has a sheen that makes my skin look healthy. It has a slight smell that kind of smells like lemon tarts (which I’m not complaining about) but it doesn’t leave your face smelling that way all day.

6. Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara: I have tried out this mascara before and had a love, hate relationship with it. I have very straight and long eyelashes so getting them to stay up and keep their curl is mission impossible. So in a way this product did help them lift a little but it didn’t create a “They’re Real!” moment. My only problem was that the wand would cause so many clumps whenever I would get ready to use it. Since it did that a lot my mascara ended up drying out.

All in all I loved my box for this month. I think what I love most about this monthly subscription is that it teaches me so much about makeup. I learn how to apply it properly, what works well for me and most importantly it reminds me to have fun with it. I hope you all enjoy my review for this month. Feel free to comment below your favorite product this week or which ones you are curious about. Any shares and likes are appreciated.

Love,

Erika

Sephora Play! May Review

Happy Monday!

This month I was so excited that I got off the Sephora Play waitlist. I was put on the wait list since January and completely forgot about it. I didn’t think I would ever get off that list. But here we are and let me say I beyond happy that I kept this subscription.

The unboxing was amazing! I loved the cute striped cardboard it came in and as you open it you were welcomed. They had everything placed neatly that I had to take a moment to enjoy it. Underneath the welcome pamphlet was the Sephora goodie bag.

img_4224

The pamphlet included all the feature products for the month.

img_4225

When you opened it up it explained what the product is, how to use it and tips for maximum usage. This was my favorite part of it because sometimes I feel lost when using new kind of products.

img_4221

It felt like it was my birthday when I saw what came in the box for May. They included Origins MaskimizerDrink Up, and Clear Improvement Masks, Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial , Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask , Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi, Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram and Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine .

Origins Maskimizer™ Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer. This product is amazing for the summer. It helps boost your mask to work harder and better for your skin. Since it was on the hot side this weekend; spraying this mist before applying my mask felt so hydrating. I felt a difference when applying that with a mask. A summer must have for people who breakouts during the summer.

Origins Drink Up™ 10 Minute Mask to Quench Skin’s Thirst. I loved this one with the maskimizer. I felt my skin thank me for rehydrating it. Before, I honestly didn’t even know how dry my face was until I used this mask. Thank god I got to try this amazing mask.

Origins Clear Improvement™ Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores. The second day of using this I was shocked . I thought that my skin was junk free but after using this I couldn’t believe how much dirt it took off. I saw all this dirt that was deep in my pores go down the sink. It was nasty but yet amazing. Just remember that a little goes a long way.

Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial. So for the longest I have trying to keep my skin as clear as possible. When I finally cleared it I noticed that I needed to tackle huge pores and scarring from the damage. So when I got this mask, I thanked Sephora for reading my mind and gifting me with this mask. One thing off the bat that I loved was that its perfect for lazy people (like myself). All you do is apply it to your clean face and go to sleep. A phrase I wish was in my beauty routine vocab.  After once use I was hooked I noticed my dark spots become lighter. Another plus was its amazing Rose scent, it soothe me to sleep.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask . I applied this on the ends of my hair because I have an oily scalp. I noticed a little softness to my hair but not a significant change. I think I liked the smell more than the results of it.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi. Its hard for me to find a lip shade that goes well with my skin tone. Either its too mute or too loud of a color. So when I saw this shade I had my doubts if it would look good on me. I liked the matted shade and how pigmented it was. I even loved the smell of the lipstick, it almost reminded me of the perfume I got.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram. Tarte released it new collection and I was dying to try something out. I have never used nor own a lip liner mostly because I never felt the need for them. But this liner made me second guess my last statement. It glided on so smoothly and the color was a beautiful nude. Once I used it I couldn’t stop looking at my lips. The only tip I have is make sure to exfoliate your lips before using.

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine perfume. This was my favorite by far! I completely fell in love with this scent. It smelled so zesty, fruity and yet romantic. It reminded me of fun beach trips along the coast line. Even my boyfriend got a sniff and loved the aroma it gives off. I caught him many times trying to get a whiff of the perfume. So I’m happy that I found my signature scent for the summer.

After my first experience I will be dreaming of the next box to come! I can’t thank my lucky stars for this amazing subscription.
