My foodie list

Low Hanging Clouds in Seattle - Beautiful & Haunting!! - Space Needle - Seattle, Washington:

Just one more week and I’m off to Seattle! I find myself thrilled to be visiting another foodie place. So far my boyfriend and I have been doing our research.

Yesterday we watched Anthony Bourdain Layover episode featuring Seattle. About ten minutes into it and I had a fan girl moment when they mentioned one of the restaurants that I’m dying to go try. He raved about how delicious that place was and as I was watching my mouth couldn’t help but water.

So places that I feel we have to go to of course involve seafood. One of the places is named after one of my favorite books, The Walruses and the Carpenter. They are famously known for their oysters which is one of the things that Anthony Bourdain couldn’t get enough of. Then there is their night life which involves some weird and creative cocktails. There were so many featured on the show that I wouldn’t know which one to chose from.

But one place I know I have to stop for breakfast is Seatown Seabar & Rotisserie. They have some delicious crab meat there. Their crab eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns I heard is a must have. I know for a fact that my boyfriend won’t go against that idea because of his love for crab.

Another idea we have is to drive to Canada and have some sushi there since we heard that is the best place to have sushi. If not then we might make a spurge decisions and  go to Sushi Kashiba for  their omakase experience.

P.s. I heard that the restaurants at Seattle airport have the best clam and salmon chowder. So once we land I know that I will have to go and see for myself.

New Year’s Goals 2017

I know that I’m late to the party but this year I wanted to really enjoy my last days of vacation with my boyfriend. I felt like a nice detox from social media was highly needed to welcome the new year.

It was so refreshing sleeping in and enjoying each others company at home. Please forgive me for not posting on my usual days during the holidays. But as I was escaping the internet I was really thinking about what I wanted to accomplish in the 2017.

There has been many things that I have been thinking about lately. One of them being re-branding myself. Right now I am currently going through some creative changes and plan on working on all aspects of myself. I have learned from trial and error what I feel I need to do to get me where I need to be.

As I start to unravel all my goals for this year I wanted to share a few with you.

  1. Take care of ME.

Last year I was extremely busy with work that I felt like I was putting myself last. I was constantly going to the doctor but never completely recovering. I saw myself slowly falling apart from neglecting myself. I was in dire need of some self-love. So this year I really want to focus on separating some time every week or day to take care of myself (mentally or physically.)

  1. Spread my love.

Since I was so tired from balancing internships and a job I really never made time for my friends and family. I slowly felt like I was losing the strong connection we once had. This year I want to spend more time with them at least once a month catching up with them.

  1. Enjoy the moments.

Somethings that most of us are forgetting nowadays is enjoying the current moment. We get so catch up on Snapchat, Instagram or the internet that we forget to stay present. One article mentioned that you can never fully enjoy a moment or conquer your goals if you are not present. So I want to limit the amount of time I am on my phone or laptop.

I can’t wait to share with you what I have in store for this year! Happy New Year everyone!!!

Motivational Monday

Good Morning!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! This weekend was nothing but pure joy for me. On Friday I attended my boyfriend’s company Christmas party and I couldn’t believe how much fun I had. The people there were so welcoming and made everyone feel so comfortable. They had delicious food and games that included prizes.

Then on Saturday we slept in and decided to go on a small adventure to another city. While on Sunday we decided to do the opposite and wake up early to go see Rogue 1. I absolutely loved the movie and felt like they couldn’t have done a better job. We managed to sneak in Trader Joe’s holiday cookies that were so delicious and fit the mood so wonderfully!

It was sad knowing that the weekend came to an end. But then again I’m beyond excited to know that I get to enjoy my three day weekend at home with my boyfriend. He is pretty lucky and has a five day weekend. So he knows that I’m jealous that he gets to stay home longer than I do.

So as I start my Monday I hope that you guys remain as strong as I do and power this the week strong. I know that the days will just fly by and before we know it, it will be Friday!!!

She was on a journey that required her to be fierce. It was called Monday.:

Staying Grounded

Have you ever had a stressful day that caused you to feel off balanced.

Well for this week there has been a lot of changes in my life and I have been feeling off centered. Whenever I start to feel this way I separate some time for myself.

One of the things I do to get myself grounded is burn some sage, clear the negative energy from my home and do some yoga.

I find some of the most mood changing yoga positions through Pinterest. Today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite yoga positions from Mind Body Green. I personally love them because it caters to different levels of yoga.

If you have some time today I recommend you try these stretches out for yourself.

Monday/ Tuesday Motivation

Sorry for posting this today but yesterday I got a nasty cold and I’m still fighting it off.

You would think that because I have been in bed that I would’ve been able to click post but I had to avoid any screens.

So to stay positive and in a good sprit I wanted to post my motivational quote for this week. Many of you know that this Sunday was a new moon. It honestly explains why things haven’t really gone according to plan.

"Don't start your day with the broken pieces of yesterday. Every day is a fresh start. Each day is a new beginning. Every morning we wake up is the first day of our new life." — Unknown Author #SimpleReminders #SRN @bryantmcgill @jenniyoung_ #quote #today #yesterday #beginning #morning #life:

Feliz Día de la Independencia!

independencia

Today marks a significant day in my culture.

It was the day that Mexico stood together and revolted against the Spaniards.  Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla  was the father of this whole movement. He gave a famous speech known as “Grito de Dolores, or Cry of Dolores”.  It became very powerful because Hidalgo was captured and executed right after he armed his people.  When Hidalgo was killed the people finally had enough of the Spanish rule and fault back . Mexico had won the battle and got back their country. So today Mexican’s all over the world celebrate the glory of victory.  The Mexican President every year go out to the balcony and yells, “Viva México! Viva la Independencia! Vivan los héroes!”  In Mexico they have all these festivals and many make their signiature dishes. It really is a celebration worth seeing.

So today to represent my culture and roots I decided to dress up. As far as my plans I guess I will just have to wait and see what I come up with. Hope you all have a great Friday!

Joe Rogan Book Club

Have you ever listen to a Joe Rogan podcast?

When my bf introduced me to his podcast it was a lot for me to take in. He has a variety of guests that appear on his show. Some days its about history and others its about martial arts. Regardless of what the subject is you always leave with some knowledge.

So when we take long drives, we listen to his podcast. Since listening to his podcast I have discovered many books that I wanted to read. One of them was inspired by the MMA fighter Justin “The Viking” Wren. He was a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience and talked about the his experience with the pygmy people.  It broke my heart to hear about their daily struggles and how it was all traced back to King Leopold. As they got more into the history of the pygmy people I found myself wanting to learn more. Justin Wren recommended reading, King Leopold’s Ghost by Adam Hochschild.

The other book that I wanted to read was The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. It is a perfect book for someone who is an artist. When I say artist I mean any one who is creative and loves to think outside the box. It is a very witty book and reminds me of that bold friend who is brutal honest. The purpose of the book is to help you become successful by breaking down these obstacles we put up. As I read the first page I felt like the book was written just for me, like it was giving me direct advice.

The other book that I have been reading is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.  I would say it is very similar to The War of Art, except I would say it is more spiritual. Many people who have read this book have told me that it was a life changing book.

Normally I finish one book before starting another one. But since my bf surprised me with the other two J.R. books I couldn’t say no. Now I am beyond excited to started these new books in September!

P.s. The Day Designer is a new planner I bought at Target. I have been obsessed with it and felt like I had to included it in my September books.
