Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is not only my birthday but my friend Brittany too!!!

I can’t believe that today I turn twenty three years old. Yesterday my birthday Twin surprised me with a ticket to see a taping of The Voice. Amazingly I got to see Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine! They were so sweet and just as beautiful as I imagined. Alicia Keys was so loving when fans from the audience would yell out that they loved her she would just give the sweetest smile and mouthed I love you too.

We waited for almost three hours to get in and seat but it was an experience I will never forget. It was a perfect way to start off our birthday week.

I’m pretty excited to see what the week brings, I’m hoping that the universe sends me some luck.

Modern Meow Updates

Good Afternoon!

Today I thought I would share with you guys my blogger schedule.

With careful consideration I decided that Monday, Wednesday and Fridays I will be posting new content. I’m still debating if I want a theme/ category for each day or if I will make it random content.

I’m so excited to share my new vision of Modern Meow with you these upcoming weeks.

Stay tune for more updates 🙂

Let it Begin

I hope you are as excited as I am for February!

I know that for many its single awareness day. But valentines day doesn’t have to be about having a boyfriends or girlfriend. Its a day to celebrate love!

I have a tradition with two of my girlfriends where I send them those imfamous tumblr valentines day cards. I chose flirty, funny and sweet saying to them just to remind them how special they are. I would start on February 1st and end on Valentines day.

So I wanted to create my own this year and of course they will be cat related.

I will be posting them every single day on my instagram. So if you want to check them out follow me @modernmeow.

Here is my first creation!

Designer Con 2015

Good Afternoon!

This week we went to the Pasadena Designer Con and it was so inspiring. The tickets we really cheap it was seven dollars each but we actually got lucky and got them for five. As we entered we were overwhelmed with so many amazing art pieces. We had no idea where to beginning. Seeing local artists come together to sell and support each other was amazing. We talked to a few artists and they mentioned that last year it wasn’t anywhere near as big and crowded as it was this year. There was buttons for a dollar, cute lazar cut earrings, illustrations and sculptors.

Here are a few things that I saw and fell in love with.

D.I.Y. Halloween

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you all had a fun and festive weekend.

This Halloween I was pretty amazed of how everything ran smoothly. I usually do my personal projects last minute so lets just say that I didn’t finish up my mask til a hour before we had to leave the house. But it came out pretty amazing.

On Friday for work I dressed up as Wednesday Adams. It was fairly simple I just got a black dress with sleeves, black tights and some black booties. I did my make up pretty simple with just black lipstick. As for my hair, I parted it straight down and French braided it. Since I didn’t have any white collared shirt I cut out pieces of paper and taped it to my dress.

American Apparel decided to throw their employees a Halloween Party. So I worked with HR to help decorate the break room and pass out goodies to the employees. They even had a costume contest where the top 3 winners got a Target gift card.

Now as for Halloween, I dressed up as Catwoman. This costume took a lot of hours of researching to find something that catwoman would actually wear. I ended up finding a lot of ideas with American Apparel clothing and if it weren’t for my discount I don’t know if I would have been able to afford it. I bought the Cotton Spandex Micro-Mesh Gloria-V Bodysuit and their Lame Shiny Legging.

I added in my black belt and a black cami so it wouldn’t be too revealing. Now for the mask I went to Michael’s and bought everything I needed from there. I got two black felt fabric (.39 each), white puffy paint (3.00) and some cool black ribbon (1.25). After buying my supplies I used a template to cut out the shape. Once I cut it out I realized it was too long and my nose wasn’t cut right. So with some experiments with staples I customized it to my face and glue gunned it together.

I had a lot of fun getting ready for that day. If you are interested in making the mask the link to the template below.

Flashback Friday: The Tumblr Years

When I was in high school I started my own Tumblr, mostly because I was inspired by Carrie Bradshaw.

I remember spending hours on it and staying up late. But when I started community college I stopped logging in  and posting. So the other day I wanted to check it out and see if what I thought was cool was still cool.

I found myself laughing, crying and completely understanding what I was going through at that moment. What I found to be amazing is that, that blog turned into my personal journal. Here are a few photos and gifs that capture what I would re-blog.
