Seattle, Washington

This week I got some amazing news. My boyfriend told me that for our anniversary in February we will be going to Seattle!

Last year we celebrated it in Portland, Oregon and it was such a unforgettable vacation. When we were there we heard about Seattle and how beautiful it is over there. My boyfriend was completely sold on the idea when he heard about a fish market that tosses fish inside.

So now all I’m doing is counting down the days until it is time to take off. I fell in love with researching and planning out our days that I’m beyond excited that I get to do it all over again. If any of you are from Seattle or have ever been there I would love some recommendations on where you think we should go visit? I know that we are planning on eating the majority of our time there because after looking at yelp my taste buds can hardly wait.

Hope you all have a great Thursday. Just remember one more day until a new year arrives!

Erika

Monday Favorites

Today I wanted to share with you my favorites of this week.

Let me start off by saying that this weekend I was extremely excited. I finally got my first ipsy bag!!!

open

For those who don’t know about it, ipsy is a monthly subscription that includes a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.

Another favorite I discovered was Whole Foods bacon. Yes, you read correctly BACON.

I know what you are thinking bacon…really? But since its Whole Foods the bacon is top tier. For example not only is that bacon more flavorful then your regular Farmer John’s but its nice thick, juicy, meaty bacon! And they were only $1 for two pieces of bacon. Since my boyfriend and I love our bacon we bought 6 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday. I got hooked quickly…

foundation.jpg

Finally my last favorite and probably the most shocking one. Recently I had to buy some new foundation because sadly I lost my Kat Von D foundation in Portland. With all that money spent I thought it would be best for my wallet and I to try drugstore foundation. The two words I do not like together. I did my research and thought I would give L’orel Paris Infalliable Pro- Matte 24 HR foundation a try. I amazingly love it and think that the color and coverage is actually better than my Kat Von D one. If you are as shiny as I am then you will love how much this controls it.

Modern Meow Updates

Good Afternoon!

Today I thought I would share with you guys my blogger schedule.

With careful consideration I decided that Monday, Wednesday and Fridays I will be posting new content. I’m still debating if I want a theme/ category for each day or if I will make it random content.

I’m so excited to share my new vision of Modern Meow with you these upcoming weeks.

Stay tune for more updates 🙂

Valentine’s Day

Even though we went to Portland for our anniversary I couldn’t help but want to do something simple on our actual day. Since it falls on the most overpriced day of the month we thought let’s do something cheap and fun.

That did not happen…well at least not on my end. I love my boyfriend so much that sometimes I can’t help but want to spoil him. So I made a reservation to my baby’s favorite restaurant, Fogo De Chao. It is an all you can eat Brazilian BBQ place that has high quality meat.

After that we went home and changed for the next thing on our agenda. My boyfriend took me to one of his secret locations in P.V. (Palos Verdes). We hike down this steep mountain and managed to get to this fire pit that outlook the ocean. After almost freaking out twice getting there, I will say that the beautiful view was worth it.

My boyfriend got the fire going and I got our marshmallows ready. It was a perfect way to end our hike.

I ended the night by surprising my boyfriend with his present. I got him some Valentine day candy, Star Wars magazine and this photo I made of us.

It’s pretty crazy looking back at how we met and how instantly we connected. I was taken by surprised of how much happiness he has brought into my life. Sometimes I find myself at aww of how my life is now and how I couldn’t imagine it without him.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s day!

Ash Wednesday

For this Ash Wednesday I decided to get crazy and give up my guilty pleasures.

  • I decided not to buy any fast food.
  • To stop drink soda (Coke to be specific).
  • To stop overspending on things I do not need.
  • To start including more fruits and veggies into my diet.
  • To learn how to coupon and save money.

I’m basically going to be restricting myself from buying fast food and watching how much I spend. With doing that I hope that it forces me into making this a healthy habit.

If you celebrate Ash Wednesday too let me know what you are giving up as well.

Happy Friday!!

Let it Begin

I hope you are as excited as I am for February!

I know that for many its single awareness day. But valentines day doesn’t have to be about having a boyfriends or girlfriend. Its a day to celebrate love!

I have a tradition with two of my girlfriends where I send them those imfamous tumblr valentines day cards. I chose flirty, funny and sweet saying to them just to remind them how special they are. I would start on February 1st and end on Valentines day.

So I wanted to create my own this year and of course they will be cat related.

I will be posting them every single day on my instagram. So if you want to check them out follow me @modernmeow.

Here is my first creation!

D.I.Y. Valentine inspired Photo Pins

This week has been such an amazing week full of great news and excitement.

So I had some time to sit down and work on a small DIY project.

I wanted to create a cute display of photos that my boyfriend and I have taken since we have been together. I found these cute clothes pins at target for a dollar each. I thought it would be look cute if I hot glue gun them onto a thumb tack.

I decided I wanted them to be arranged on my corkboard. After gluing them I cleared my mood board of last years memories/ inspiration. I kept playing around with the placement of the clothes pins to see what would look best. If you don’t have a corkboard you can stop by Michael’s or Target and get yarn and hang them on it as a banner.

Hope you enjoyed my DIY for the week.

Love
