Happy Friday

Yay its finally Friday! I’m so happy that the weekend is finally here.

Tonight I have plans to see Through the Looking Glass with my bf. I’m beyond excited to go see it. For those of you who don’t know I’m obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. So I decided to go all out for this movie and go see it in a Regal theatre. I heard that there is lazy boy chairs that recline and they bring you, your order. So you know I’ll be out the door when it hits 5:30.

I have already started working out and let me say that I’m really out of shape. I was trying to fit in 50 squats before my boyfriend came home and I really had to dig deep to get to 30. My boyfriend came in right when I hit 40 and I was struggling to keep myself from gasping for air lol. I didn’t want him to know I was doing a squat challenge but he figured it out. I am really going to have to get motivated now because after the first few days it got hard. I bought some protein shake packets to try out different brands before committing to one. I’ll be posting my review on that on Monday if you want to see which ones I tried and liked.

I hope you all have a fun and safe weekend!

My Weekly Update

Things have been pretty crazy lately. I have been trying to keep up with making meals by hand and it’s insane. Who knew that living a diabetic lifestyle would be so hard? The things that you have to cut off for me seemed so extreme. I went from making an easy lunch to making a meal. I use to get away with making a sandwich and having a soup with it. But now I have to lower the amount of carbs and sodium I eat. So there are days like yesterday when I eat my lunch and am still hungry. I honestly think that if I start adding more healthy cheap snacks to my daily routine I’ll put an end to that hunger.

There are some things that I have to take from this week. You just have to do a lot of research and I’m not just talking about deciding what you are going to eat. Groceries tend to add up and what I think is funny is that eating healthier cost A LOT more. So making it a habit to look at store ad’s and clip coupons is important.

Another thing I took away was that creating these diabetic friendly meals were easy. I loved that there was so much information out there about this disease. Since my loved one is waiting on their diagnosis of what kind of diabetes they have we have changed our eating habits for the severe kind. So I picked dinners that would be easy to make and were affordable. I was so afraid that I was going to think that the food was bland and nasty but it wasn’t. I was so shocked after my first meal because I honestly thought that, that was the best meal I have EVER made. It was tasty, flavorful and healthy. Something that I never thought would be together.

One thing I learned for next week is to prep food. I hate doing it and having to keep making food even after I’m done making dinner. But when I put it off until the morning I am either late to work or I never get up to actually do it. I also have to plan out when and what time we are going to work out. This one is going to be a challenge but it WILL happen.

Hope you enjoying checking in on me and this new lifestyle habit I incorporated into my life. For more diabetic recipes that I have tried and plan on trying check out my Pinterest. I even pinned some diabetic recipes just in case you get a sweet tooth.

A HUGE Lifestyle Change

Last week I got some sad news, someone I love was diagnosed with diabetes. After a tearful conversation I realized how important it is to treat your body right. Sure we think a soda or a bag of chips won’t do any damage but in the long run it just might.

I have always had horrible eating habits and after that night I am more than willing to change them. I have made a pact with myself to be not only a support system to them but to join them.

Changing what you eat can be extremely difficult. So I have been doing non-stop research on what kind of food they need to start eating and exercise tips.

Tonight I’m going to try and make this.

And since fruit juice is a no-no, I decided to make this for the rest of the week. Hopefully it last that long.

If there is anything to take away from my article its to see your doctor and get checked out. Because there are 29.1 million people in the United States that have diabetes. But the scary part is that 8.1 million of them may be undiagnosed and unaware of their condition.

  • In adults 20 and older, more than one in every 10 people suffers from diabetes, and in seniors (65 and older), that figure rises to more than one in four.

So do your loved ones a favor and get a physical. To see more of my recipes and pins you can follow me on pinterest (@modernmeow).
